    Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for a Senior Controls Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a university degree or college diploma in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience.

    Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for a Senior Controls Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a university degree or college diploma in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience. Duties And Responsibilities
    • Provide overall expertise and guidance to the design team, manufacturing team and clients with respect to power transformer controls requirements.
    • Be familiar with relevant industry standards applicable to the design and manufacturing of power transformers and mobile substations.
    • Understand electrical power protection and control equipment.
    • Working from client specifications and company standard practices, select components, design schematics, panel layouts and specify bills of materials and manufacturing and test work instructions.
    • Provide technical support to manufacturing team and client.
    • Attend design review meetings.
    • Work with purchasing to quote design alternatives.
    • Support sales and quotations team to generate estimates for controls portion of quotation.
    • Upload Bills of Material (BOM) into purchasing system.
    • Completion of task and design activities on time.
    • Train and mentor junior controls designers and engineers
    • Communicate and help others in the engineering team.
    • Anticipate and assist with production processes and procedures to ensure high quality and smooth production.
    • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the company's values of Quality, Safety and Service and company Environment, Health & Safety procedures and quality management system.
    Qualifications:
    • B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, equivalent degree or technical experience.
    • Professional Engineering designation in Ontario ("P.Eng") is preferred. The company will also consider an applicant with the prerequisites to achieve a P. Eng. within 3 years.
    • Excellent computer skills. Knowledge in schematic and panel layout design tools.
    • Experience with Zuken E3 software is a plus.
    • Familiarity with industry standards applicable to design and manufacturing of power transformers.
    • Understanding of relays such as SEL, GE, Beckwith, etc.
    • Understanding of transformer protection.
    • Knowledge and ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, single and three phase diagrams.
    • Excellent organization, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • 10+ years of controls design work experience in a power transformer design & manufacturing environment.
    Working Hours Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Benefits
