You as an Environmental Coordinator will:

  • Leadership with implementing EllisDon's environmental policies, practices, and procedures at Toronto area construction projects.
  • Providing environmental representation at various forums, such as proposal planning, project preparations, subcontractor kickoff meetings and performance reviews.
  • Conducting site visits to support project teams with environmental program development and implementation, such as environmental plans, training and monitoring.
  • Perform site environmental inspections to verify and report on, conformance with Environmental Management Plans.
  • Promote environmental awareness to onsite personnel and provide timely communications to the Project Management and Site Teams regarding the environmental program performance and any nonconformance items
  • Exercise authority to stop work on any activities that may result in noncompliance with applicable laws and regulations or projectspecific environmental commitments,
  • Work cooperatively with project personnel to correct and prevent environmental issues that jeopardize the project's conformance with the environmental program requirements as outlined in contracts, internal projectspecific documents or corporate commitments
  • Coordination within multidisciplinary environmental teams, including internal project resources and external consultants, in managing impacts of the works and meeting project deliverables
  • Working within a formal Environmental Management System framework and supporting its maintenance and improvements

Is this the right role for you?

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies/conservation authorities in obtaining approvals and maintaining compliance.
  • Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental aspects, risks and control measures associated with civil and infrastructure construction projects in and around sensitive areas
  • Certified Inspector of Erosion and Sediment Control would be an asset
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a construction environment
  • Ability to travel to construction project sites across the GTA, anticipated to be approximately 20% in office and 80% at project sites.
