About the Pet Cancer Foundation


The Pet Cancer Foundation's vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer.

Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.

We need to do more for our furry friends, and we're building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their families.


Over the past 24 months, the organization has grown to a team of over 300 volunteers working virtually across the United States and Canada.

As we work to become the leading non-profit organization in the field of animal cancer, we plan to more than double in size over the next 12 months.

We're searching for highly qualified HR Business Partners to support assigned business units. This is where and how you can help us.


About the Position


The
volunteer HR Business Partner is required to have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources and will act as an expert on human resources policies and procedures, providing channels of communication on human resource management issues.

The HRBP plays a key role in identifying and communicating emerging strategic issues and consults with business unit directors providing HR guidance when appropriate


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages/resolves complex people/volunteer relations issues
  • Maintains indepth knowledge of legal requirements related to daytoday management of volunteers, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Provides daytoday performance management guidance to management (coaching, counselling, etc)
  • Works closely with management and volunteers to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provides HR policy guidance, and interpretation
  • Provides guidance/input on department restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Evaluates/monitors training programs

About You
You are a focused HR professional with strong customer service skills. You are well organized, detail-oriented and and have strong analytical, relationship management and interpersonal skills.

You are passionate about the delivery of high-quality HR services and programs and take a holistic view of the talent management life cycle.

You are a strategic thinker and work best in a collaborative team setting that is collectively seeking to grow a new, ever-changing organization.


You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources(Master's degree would be considered a strong asset)
  • 57 years of progressive experience in human resources
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Strong HR skills and experience working with current best practices and industry trends(experience in a not for profit setting would be considered a strong asset)
  • Strong adaptability to changing priorities

  • This volunteer position requires a time commitment of approximately 68 hours per week and more at times.
