Description

To provide technical expertise for trouble shooting electrical problems on the LRT system, electrical distribution systems and various infrastructure equipment. Provide coaching and guidance to other staff to heighten their abilities to inspect, maintain, repair equipment. A role model for time keeping, and a team player, who demonstrates organizational commitment and awareness. Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions, as well as in a 24 hour, 7 days a week working environment. Must work safely and follow all work procedures.**
Who We Are

  • TransEd Valley Line LRT is the first piece of the Valley Line project in Edmonton. Connecting Mill Woods to downtown Edmonton, the Valley Line allows commuters to go from the Southeast of Edmonton to anywhere the LRT stops.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Monitoring facilities, electrical and mechanical equipment, building automation, and other facility systems by conducting regular facility inspections and report abnormal finding through an electronic maintenance program.
  • Performing light maintenance and repairs to facilities, mechanical and electrical equipment, and other facility systems.
  • Coordination of facility maintenance subcontractors, ensuring limited disruption to the system, safety, and quality of workmanship.
  • Respond to service requests and recommend corrective maintenance and/or perform arrange routine and emergency service on facility equipment and systems as necessary.
  • Develop and document inspection and maintenance routines and standard work procedures in a startup environment.
  • Perform work in accordance with established procedures and risk management practices to ensure safety and maximum levels of facility availability in accordance with the requirements of the project agreement.
  • Record status of maintenance and repair work within a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Ensures work completed meets response time and quality requirements of the Project Agreement.
  • Comply with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, risk management, possession management and fire protection requirements.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Journeyman Electrician and/or Power System Electrician Certification.
  • 2 years of experience within Sub-Station commissioning, operation, and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills and inter personnel skills.
  • Excellent logical and analytical reasoning ability, and capable of making complex decisions.
  • Committed to teamwork, continuous improvement in the department processes and personnel.
  • Good computer skills with respect to connecting to various devices for testing, monitoring, configuration, and system setting changes throughout the railway.
  • Good judgement & effective in solving practical problems, responds quick, calmly, and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work efficiently in an unsupervised environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong health, safety, quality, and environmental mindset.
  • Ability to be a leader and direct work crews with respect to our Possession Management Process, past supervisor experience considered an asset.
  • Previous experience within rail transit or rail transportation industry considered an asset.
  • Experience or certifications such as, Arch Flash Training, Fall Arrest, Mobile Elevated Work Platform, etc. Ability to work independently, under pressure and adapt to constant change.

Job Conditions

  • Willing to work shifts in a 24/7 environment.
  • Provides oncall/standby duties and emergency response as required.
  • Personal protective equipment is required to be worn as part of this role.
  • Valid drivers' license required to perform work at multiple sites, Class 3 considered an asset.
  • Capable of working at heights, in confined spaces.
  • Willing to work in an outside environment as required including during times of inclement weather.
