Growing the Desjardin brand outside of Quebec is a key strategic initiative of the company moving forward. We are excited to promote this unique opportunity to join a growing and dynamic underwriting department.


As an Underwriting Consultant - Complex and large cases, you evaluate and classifies medical, non-medical, and financial risks on complex cases.

You have an advanced understanding of financial underwriting, on high-net-worth sales concept. Your role requires to build strong relationships with partners and clients. You possess the expertise to provide underwriting solutions by partnering with many collaborators from different fields of expertise. You thrive on pressure and working to tight deadlines.


You will be joining a team 'on the ground floor' and will help us grow and expand our already great underwriting team by contributing to process improvement, culture, and customer service.

General Information on the Position


Main responsibilities- Handle Large or High Net worth cases, and\or an interest in growing and expanding this discipline- Use medical and financial underwriting techniques when handling files- Think outside of the box when handling complex or escalated cases- Prioritize customer service and balance risk management while serving our customers- Work productively in a high-pressure environment and deal effectively and proactively with difficult situations- Provides mentoring, referrals, and co-signing to more junior underwriters- Build strong relationship with advisors, clients, and distribution partners, as well as collaborating effectively with other teams in the organization- Participate in projects and propose ideas for continuous improvement.

Other working conditions- The work arrangement for the position is full-time telework #LI-Remote- Travel : 5-10% in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia to meet with partners- Number of jobs available : 2


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant experience
  • Life and health Underwriting experience
Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered- Holds a FLMI or FALU designations, or working towards obtaining one

Specific knowledge Knowledge in reading and understanding large volume of advanced medical and complex financial information- Knowledge of multiple lines of business (life, disability (DI), critical Illness (CI)) (an asset)- Knowledge of French (an asset)- Proficient speaker, complete proficiency in English
