JOB SUMMARY:
The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of Grade 10
Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative / cash handling role and working with the public
Previous experience in leading recreation sporting activities, and providing direction to participants
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES:
Current Standard First Aid certificate
Current CPR - 2-rescuer certificate
Current AED Operator certificate
AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
KNOWLEDGE:
- Demonstrated confidence and experience is necessary in specific and o/or generalized sports as program requires
- Develops a working knowledge of the Department's facilities and programmes in order to make appropriate referrals to other sites as required.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
- Leadership Training is an asset.
- Ability to instruct skating an asset (i.e. knowledge of basic skating skills).

- Must be available to work staggered hours (i.e. weekdays, evenings, weekends)
- Must wear City of Ottawa provided uniform, and whistle.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
