The Enterprise Data Analyst supports Strathcona County's enterprise data management practice and delivers tactical and operational services.

The areas of responsibility align with key DAMA knowledge areas in the delivery of creating a data centric organization focused on adding value to its data assets while ensuring quality, integrity, security, governance, and education of its community.

This position also supports Strathcona County's Open Data services which enables easy access to public data for our citizens.

The position will deliver services in focused areas in conjunction with other DMBOK knowledge areas such as Data Architecture, Data Modelling, Database Administration, Data Quality, Data Warehousing, Data Operations, Data Integrations, Data Intelligence, Metadata, and Open Data.


The Enterprise Data Analyst will interact with multiple departments to achieve the County's goal of becoming a data centric organization.

This position at times will also be required to coordinate, lead, or manage projects to achieve organizational, branch, or departmental goals.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop data models for enterprise data warehouses and data intelligence services
  • Lead, and collaborate with the business on development of data, reports, analytics, and visualizations
  • Establish standards, policies, procedures and guidelines for BI data, reports, analytics, and visualizations
  • Administration of the Enterprise BI service (cloud and onpremises) as well as developing, delivering or facilitating Enterprise BI training
  • Develop and administer BI report catalog, organizational metrics, and coordination with data stewards
  • Provide MuleSoft administration and maintenance in a coverage/backup capacity
  • Publish data sets based on Strathcona County's Open Data Policy
  • Responsible for the administration and oversight of the Open Data platform, including the integration of various platforms such as FME, SSIS, and Python data
  • Lead, promote, and participate in the Open Data (COE) group
  • Offer support for service requests, incidents, and problems, while contributing to the development and documentation of technical and standard operating procedures

Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree or diploma, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in business intelligence or data management
  • Experience working with technical documentation, business requirements gathering/documenting, and providing technical support & training
  • Ability to work independently, well organized, and selfmotivated
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and discretion in dealing with difficult situations
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, compliance, and best practices
  • Proven leadership experience, including the ability to mentor and guide data management professionals
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with a strategic mindset
