    Description

    Description of Company:

    Our client is a highly specialized architectural design practice that is focused on providing architectural design guidance services to major development clients primarily in Ontario. Our client works in close collaboration with Urban Planning, Urban Design, and Landscape Architecture practices.

    Description of Role:

    As the Practice Leader the Architect Practitioner will participate in all aspects of the architectural practice. The Architect Practitioner in collaboration with the Partners will be responsible for the running of the architectural practice including the operation of architectural design guidance, full-scope architectural services, and business development. The Architect Practitioner will use their Stamp on drawings and documents as appropriate in accordance with Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) regulations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Organize visioning studies and workshops for new developments
    • Author architectural design guidelines
    • Practice privately administered design guidance
    • Participate in urban design studies and the development of urban design guidelines;
    • Provide detailed conceptual and design development studies for a wide range of primarily residential and mixed-use building types;
    • Produce drawings for applications for site plan approvals; and
    • Produce construction documents and contract administration services for select clients.

    Must Haves:

    • Be a full member of the OAA (Ontario Association of Architects), holding a Bachelor or Master of Architecture degree and have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
    • Have demonstrated experience managing an Architectural practice;
    • Be highly design-oriented and have had experience working on complex, multi-disciplinary projects;
    • Have a broad knowledge of the residential building/development industry in the Greater Golden Horse Shoe;
    • Have strong technical knowledge, a documented experience in the preparation of working drawings, contract documents, and familiarity with the complex approval processes

    Nice-to-haves:

    • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with considerable drive and enthusiasm for innovation;
    • Have superb people-skills and be a diplomatic mediator while remaining firm in negotiation situations; and
    • Ideally have a client base to build from.
