    Description

    Our client in the insurance industry is looking for a Director, Portfolio Architect / Information Architect to Strategize and modernize the data landscape to drive business outcomes.


    Location:
    Downtown Toronto


    Responsibilities:
    Accountable to ensure high quality delivery of leading-edge solutions that meet time and cost requirements that align with business unit (BU) and enterprise architecture principles and design standards
    Proactively identify areas and opportunities to use technology for enhancing organizational efficiency e.g. advocating critical Data elements
    Research and recommend opportunities to leverage technology and keep up with the industry to support the strategy e.g. identifying gaps in existing Data Governance tools
    Drive a high-performance culture for practitioner Solution Architects and influence this culture within IT
    Ensure leaders, employees and vendors work together to drive performance and that high expectations are achieved within the values of the organization
    Establish Enterprise Information Model by producing Ontologies and Taxonomies relevant to Canada Life business domains e.g. Health & Dental Insurance, Investing & Saving, Retirement
    Ensure Ontologies and Taxonomies enable delivery teams to build solutions (e.g. logical Data Models, domain aligned APIs, Data Mesh domains)
    Enable reuse of common Data models and develop Data modeling best practices
    Evangelize Metadata and Data Glossaries maintained by Data Governance team


    Must Haves:
    ~10+ years of experience in IT environments with a preference for significant complexity, highly regulated, and/or financial services
    ~5+ progressive leadership experience related to both projects and teams
    ~ Expertise in Data modeling and Information classification at an organization level for complex, large enterprises; including defining Data entities and relationships between entities
    ~ Data Management fundamentals (e.g. Ontologies/Taxonomies, Data Governance, Business Glossary, Technical Glossary, Metadata Definition)
    ~ Experience with implementing conceptual Data models including business capability aligned Data domains and canonical Data elements at an initiative level in alignment with enterprise standards
    ~ Experience in one or more of the following areas: designing domain-driven Data products (based on Data Mesh paradigm), establishing Data Governance (including Data Quality and Data Lineage), defining Metadata, implementing MDM system, modelling APIs
    ~ Information architecture frameworks in the financial, insurance and healthcare industries e.g. BIAN, ACORD, HL7 FHIR
    ~ Proficiency in Erwin, ER/Studio or other visualization tools to represent Data models
