We currently have an opportunity for a
Team Lead - Planning in Radiation Therapy - Oncology.

How Team Lead - Planning support our teams at Grand River Hospital:

Reporting to the Manager, Radiation Treatment Program, this position will assist and coordinate the day-to-day operations in the department and particularly of the Planning/Dosimetry area in the Radiation Therapy Department.

The Team Lead will have the equivalent of 1 day per week of protected time for team lead work with the balance of the time dedicated to planning/dosimetry clinical work but is expected to provide leadership at all times.

Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:


  • Provides the daytoday coordination of staffing assignments for the front line staff in treatment planning
  • Acts as a resource for staff
  • Works with the Manager in human resource management, including providing input into the biannual performance review of staff
  • Ensures that the patient experience is positive
  • Participates in orientation/education activities at the direction of the Manager
  • Provides daytoday direction of the education program for all staff and students rotating into the Planning Department
  • Participates as a member of the Radiation Therapy Management Team
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Radiation Therapy Department, medical and physics staff
  • Ensures all radiation therapy planning policies, procedure and guidelines are kept up to date
  • Occasionally responsible for projects within the Radiation Therapy Department related to data management and patient safety initiatives and implementation Provides leadership for Joint Physics/Planning meetings and monthly Planning meetings

At Grand River Hospital, the Team Lead - Planning:

  • Member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO)
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a radiation therapist and experience in planning
  • MDCB CMD or CAMRT CDC certification an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to evidencebased care
  • Strong sense of and belief in the provision of personcentred care
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Good attendance record
