PWO Canada is a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier for auto manufacturers globally. We are one of five subsidiaries in the PWO AG Group, manufacturing lightweight metal components for the automotive industry.


PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Maintenance Manager manages and controls the General Maintenance Department. The position is responsible for all machinery, production and facilities equipment within the entity. The position is also responsible for personnel and projects within the department.


NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION


Maintenance management is the systematic and targeted planning, organization, control, implementation, monitoring and documentation of all work required to ensure unrestricted use or trouble-free operation of the (building-) technical facilities available in our organization.

It thus includes not only property
- and equipment-related aspects such as maintenance, repairs or the replacement of equipment or machine parts, but also administrative processes as well as personnel deployment planning and personnel management. Maintenance is of particular importance where the failure of technical systems threatens the integrity of life and limb of the persons concerned. The scope includes the

Basic measures of maintenance management are:

Maintenance. This includes all measures to maintain the target condition of a facility. For example, regular cleaning, lubrication or adjustment are intended to minimize wear caused by use or aging.


Inspection. It includes all measures necessary to record and evaluate the actual condition of a facility and to detect causes of wear or aging. Inspection also includes "testing for conformity of the relevant characteristics of an object, by measurement, observation, or functional testing."


Repair. This includes all measures that serve to restore the target condition - i.e. also repairs or the replacement of devices or components or their replacement with new parts.


Improvement. This refers to all measures that are applied - if possible in a continuous process (CIP) - to increase the serviceability or availability of the maintenance object. Central to this is the identification of the causes of repeated irregularities such as malfunctions and failures and their elimination. This also includes the installation of innovations such as electronic measurement and control systems or the digitization and networking of the plant, if the original function of the object is not changed.

PWO's strategic maintenance management is based on the concepts of preventive and prospective maintenance management.


Internally the General Maintenance Manager interacts primarily with managers, skilled trades, team leads, designers, as well as PWO personnel throughout the whole plant.

The position prepares internal budget proposals as related to modernization and capital planning for all machines and facility related items as well for energy consumption and CO2-Emission targets, monitoring machine performance as it relates to uptime availability and making corrections as required to meet company performance targets based on the established KPI metrics.

This position is a key stake holder in the facilities environmental impact and impact improvements/reductions. Environmental involvement is primarily focused on waste management, exhaust/HVAC systems and energy utilization and reduction initiatives.

External contacts consist of PWO AG and sister companies, service and equipment related vendors for proposal generation and project planning/management as well authorities.


The incumbent manages the work of others and makes decisions regarding maintenance, purchases, expenses, human resources, and remuneration within the department.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Professional engineering degree in the field of electrical engineering (preferred), mechanical engineering, process engineering, or process technology or comparable qualification.


Knowledge and Skills:
The position must have an excellent understanding in engineering and designing for current and potential business for customers. The position requires the ability to use Microsoft Office and MRP systems. Management skills such as delegation, problem solving, organization, time management, interpersonal and leadership skills are required. The position demonstrates a high sense of urgency and accountability.


Communication Skills:
Organized, calm disposition and strong communication skills to interact with customers, co-workers and subordinates.


Nature and Length of Experience:
At least five years experience in a similar job and manufacturing environment is preferred.
