What is Required for the Position
- 3+ years experience as a survyor. Experience in the Sewer and Watermain industry is considered an asset.
- Education in the field of surveying, geodesy, geoinformation, civil engineering technology, civil engineering or a related field of study.
- Proficient in using surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
- Completed education/training as a surveying technician
- Familiarity with relevant software for data analysis and mapping (i.e. AutoCAD)
- High degree of selforganization, flexibility, and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask various initiatives.
The Job
As an Earth Boring Surveyor your job will be to provide support and ongoing surveying solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
The Tasks
- Provide vertical control points (benchmark) for construction.
- Calculate the coordinate system for projects.
- Stake out structures such as shafts and tunnels.
- Set out control points and provide a control network for every tunnel.
- Responsible for network computation and adjustment.
- Assist in design of the tunnel alignment and setting out the tunnel line down the shaft.
- Responsible for tunnel asbuilts and providing Auto Cad drawings.
- Conduct regular inspections of sites to ensure construction complies with the design.
- Review and implement planning documents, carry out any surveying tasks, including network measurements, stakeout, and tunnel surveys, and install and launch VMT Guidance Systems navigation and information systems.
- Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
