Western's Office of Indigenous Initiatives leads system-wide change required to advance truth and reconciliation efforts, achieve equitable outcomes for Indigenous peoples, and implement Western's Indigenous Strategic Plan.

The Office will be committed to building and strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities locally, provincially, nationally and internationally, and fostering an academic environment, where all students, staff, faculty and community members experience the university as a welcoming, supportive, culturally-safe environment in which Indigenous languages, ways of knowing, being and doing are respected and supported.


The purpose of Maatookiiying gaa-miinigoowiziying (Indigenous Learning Bundles) is to advance, collaboratively, the respectful inclusion of Indigenous ways of knowing in the university by creating a digital repository of Indigenous curriculum resources for use by Western instructors across disciplines.


Responsibilities:


Responsibilities:

Support the development and implementation of the Indigenous Learning Bundles project through administrative and academic tasks including:

  • Transcription
  • Copyediting
  • Literature reviews
  • Event and meeting coordination
  • Other related tasks as assigned

Supervisor:


  • Reports to Learning Coordinator, Indigenous Learning Bundles

Qualifications:

Required

  • Proficiency in academic writing and preparation of manuscripts
  • Knowledgeable of Indigenous pedagogies and ways of knowing
  • Ability to be a selfstarter and take the initiative on projects
  • Superior project management and communication skills
  • Ability to flexible in working hours to accommodate project deadlines and priorities.
Preferred

  • Preference will be given to those students who selfidentify as Indigenous.
