Special D Baking has been in business for over 40 years and we continue to grow and expand our products.

We are a wholesale bakery supplying most major food chains with our product. We are a certified ISO 22000 food safety facility

The Production Team Leader (Supervisor Level) will provide front-line leadership to production operating teams in a fast-paced bakery facility.

The Team Leader will lead, motivate and develop employees to achieve outstanding results according to set targets through enhancing teamwork, effective communications, active listening, and driving change.

The Team Leader will also drive accountability and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.


The purpose of this role is to provide leadership by example and play a hands-on role in the Production Department.

The Team Lead is responsible for directing the efforts of one or more lines of production in the Production Team, and is accountable to the shipping department and changeovers.


Night Responsibilities:


Responsible for preparing and monitoring the production floor for daily production and adjust production based on inventory for the assigned shift.

Own operational deliverables as assigned within the planning, assessment, installation and testing of new equipment, methods and/or products;
Provide assistance in troubleshooting of unplanned breakdowns.

Partner with maintenance to prioritize and resource continuous reduction of overall plant downtime.

Ensure the required equipment, materials, supplies and manpower are available;
Provide leadership necessary to ensure the team meets or exceeds targets;
Review and Close Production orders in system.

Ensure accurate and timely inventory records are entered into the information system;
Ensure product quality and food safety requirements are met through verification of quality checks.

Monitors performance and tracks attendance and vacation approval. Review results and respond to issues with appropriate actions;
Lead optimization of production equipment and processes needed to meet and exceed downtime and waste targets

Establish and sustain a positive and cooperative working environment through effective communications with all employees;
Provide effective, timely and fair performance and disciplinary feedback to team members and document as needed;
Other Duties Verify and maintain attendance records.

Review and address attendance issues;
Resource shifts and ensure availability for rotating shifts in a 24/5 environment;
Coordinate shipping schedule and documentation requirements (where there is no Shipping Supervisor role);
Liaise with the maintenance team on changeover and work order scheduling; Requirements:
Must have a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing as a Lead hand/Team lead. Ability to work assigned hours, including overtime shifts. Experience with OHSA regulations, HACCP and Food GMP's(in the bakery environment preferred)


Computer proficiency and the ability to make arithmetic calculations, complete routine reports and forms, and the ability to understand and follow directions as given are also necessary.

Must have a good grasp of inventory management (cycle counting, materials management, etc.) Strong organizational, People leader skills required.

Demonstrated ability to multitask and work with urgency in a fast-paced production environment; Must be an effective communicator who inspires, motivates, and creates an environment for open and trusting 2-way communication with all levels of the organization; Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently (on an occasional basis).

Must be able to stand, walk, climb, reach, lift, pull, push, stoop, squat, bend, and stretch as needed throughout the assigned eight-hour shift.

Qualifications:
Bakery or other relevant food production experience is required.

Demonstrated ability to manage a team of 10 or more staff in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.


Proven ability to establish & uphold policies and setting food safety standards for food businesses as mandated by Health Canada.
