The Data Analyst, Recognition provides data analytics support for multiple annual recognition programs and campaigns available to approximately 1,800 Sun Life Advisors.


Preferred skills

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in data analytics and business intelligence, including predictive analytics and data modeling.
  • Degree in business administration, finance, economics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent is required.
  • Experience building and maintaining Excel Macros and VBA programs.
  • Experience using data analysis tools such as Microsoft SQL server or similar.

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge in the Microsoft suite of products (Excel, Word etc.) with proven experience with VBA, as well as advanced Excel functions
  • Highly motivated individual who can execute independently with mínimal direction
  • Proficient in data investigation and compilation with multiple data sources
  • Technical aptitude: ability to learn new tools and software quickly and understand technical concepts
  • Strong analysis, investigative and problemsolving skills
  • Innovative thinker; able to identify and champion proposals for approval
  • Builds context by pushing beyond "how things are done" to understand "why" and uncover the underlying principles shaping the business
  • Ability to extract, manipulate and simplify data through a variety of tools and techniques

Responsibilities

  • Lead incentive program modelling efforts by extracting data, analyzing, and drafting insights from previous programs; present proposals for future programs to the Recognition team and senior leadership for approval.
  • Generate reports, develop, and maintain databases by acquiring data from various sources, build scripts that will make data evaluation process more flexible or scalable across data sets.
  • Analyze and model data to showcase rich interactive visualizations to extract insights, to drive for strategic business decisions to drive performance.
  • Adjust Excel VBA macros to include new requirements for annual programs, quarterly campaigns, and ad hoc incentives; ensuring data quality and timely delivery of the report.
  • Work with the internal programming team to implement and test changes to automate Recognition program reporting.
  • Support data and insights requests after each incentive program period to deliver the performance analysis and present them to the team and leadership.
  • Support data warehousing in identifying and revising reporting requirements.
  • Support ad hoc data and performance requests from leadership.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, annual program status reporting.
  • Attend regular Recognition team meetings and provide data and insights in these meetings as required.
  • Build new reports in Excel or Tableau as required to support the continuous improvement efforts of Recognition team.
  • Ensure that business and technical requirements are captured in proper documentation and maintained.
