Beamish Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Asphalt Foreperson reporting to their office in Elliot Lake, ON.

The Foreperson will require a high level of motivation, professionalism, and independence. This is a full-time permanent position available with competitive wages, incentives, and a benefits package.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide supervision and direction to the crew in order to meet quality and production standards.
  • Coordinate equipment, material, labour, and trucking with the Superintendents and Construction Manager.
  • Review contract drawings and plans to ensure specifications are followed.
  • Review and adhere to project schedules.
  • Complete daily supervisor diary and timesheet.
  • Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
  • Delegate tasks and assignments to the crew.
  • Coordinate with asphalt plant personnel regarding logistics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:


  • Valid G license.
  • AZ/DZ is an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience in the civil construction field with asphalt paving experience.
  • Experience in a management position is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to coordinate asphalt placement to adhere to project design specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints and scopes of work.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental, and Human Resources policies.
  • Knowledge of asphalt placement processes both by hand and machine.
  • Ability to manage crew size of 5 people or more.
  • Ability to mentor new employees and create a positive environment for developmental growth.
