Reporting to the Director of Procurement the Culinary Procurement and Services Manager will be is responsible for establishing a wide range of food, beverage, supplies and service contracts for all Extendicare and SGP members locations across Canadaand is involved in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures.

The Culinary Procurement and Services Manager will oversee the development of our national menu/recipe programs and the SGP menu and recipe development specialist will report into this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES*:


  • Manage a portfolio of contracts food, beverage and nonfood product categories as assigned
  • Oversees food category portfolio to maximize spend and compliance; and optimize savings and revenues
  • Source products, manage tendering, award and contract execution processes
  • Manage contract administration process from contract start to end which includes new vendor system set up, website updates and communication materials
  • Schedule meetings and conduct business reviews to manage vendor performance and review new opportunities together
  • Develop, establish and maintain strong vendor relationships with strategic key vendors
  • Analyze data and market trends for assigned categories to determine potential areas for future improvement
  • Continuously improve vendor supply base structure and develop alternative sources of supply to leverage total spend and meet the needs of the organization
  • Support SGP members to ensure product and program goals are clearly defined and any issues are resolved on a timely basis
  • Collaborate and coordinate with vendors to ensure collection of volume incentives and deliverables are completed in a timely manner as contracted and in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Oversees the development of National menus/managed order guides/recipe programs for Extendicare/SGP
  • Provides culinary guidance/support to the SGP menu and recipe development specialist and Resident Care Operations
  • Works closely with the Extendicare Regional Dietary Consultants to ensure that the Extendicare dietary policies & procedures are adhered to in the menu planning and specification process.
  • Supports SGP Sales team with competitive cost comparisons on categories as assigned
  • Work with SGP sales team and vendor partners to plan, execute, on an annual basis, Menu Planning Days for all Extendciare/SGP clients.
  • Work with SGP Sales + Marketing team to develop and organize education events to support SGP Marketing Program
  • Conducts regular product evaluations to ensure quality of food products for the senior's care sector
  • Working with operations and key stakeholders, review new products using a structured format which includes nutrition review, cost analysis, cook testing and taste.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience in procurement in a corporate environment is preferred
  • 35 years of procurement experience managing contracts or categories for indirect spend
  • Knowledge and experience managing the procurement of food product categories in a healthcare setting will be considered an asset.
  • A food professional with a minimum of 35 years operational experience in the seniors market an asset
  • Completion of a University Degree or College Program with emphasis on business, accounting or procurements preferred.
  • Must have food industry background with food safety and health and safety knowledge
  • Proficient in creating Excel spreadsheets and analyzing data is mandatory
  • Ability to negotiate and develop contracts from start to end.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational, project management, analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Selfmotivated, accountable and ability to work independently.
  • Strong team orientation with ability to collaborate with internal and external customers
  • Strong business acumen possessing strategic and results oriented mindset
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, while working under tight deadlines and/or handling multiple priorities.
  • Able to manage and rollout strategic initiatives using a structured process
  • Effective communication skills (written/verbal)
  • Available to work evenings/weekends if and when required
  • Able to travel as required
