CLIENT SERVICE COORDINATIOR, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING (part-time)
YW Calgary works to provide preventative and restorative services to women and their families to help them thrive.
Our mission is to intervene, empower and lead where people need us most. We are committed to advocating for
mental health, supporting those experiencing domestic violence and enabling women's economic prosperity.

The Client Service Coordinator is part of the Transitional Housing team which provides harm reduction services

and works with women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due a mental health challenge, domestic

violence, and/or poverty/lived experiences. This is a front-line role that acts as the first point of contact to

residents in Transitional Housing. The Client Service Coordinator is responsible for engaging clients in developing

individualized and intentional service plans and facilitating access to services and resources. This position works

closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in support of client, program, and organizational goals.


This is a permanent, part-time position working Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00p.m. to 7:00a.m.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and take part in developing client safety plans.
  • Attend to emergent events (e.g., disagreements or substance use related crises) with a focus on defusing
situations before they escalate further.

  • Support clients to gain control of their lives, achieve economic stability, and live free from violence.
  • Use a strength based and harm reduction approach when supporting clients.
  • Maintain records in accordance with program policies and organizational standards.
  • Support administrative functions and maintain uptodate and accurate case notes, client information, and
occupancy stats; support rent collection as required.

  • Maintain your knowledge and understanding of evidencebased practices related to the program, e.g.,
homelessness, domestic violence, mental health, substance use and intersectional feminist practices.

  • Ensure all activities and actions are accomplished with an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens.
  • Participate in ongoing opportunities for professional development.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Postsecondary education in Human Services with at least two years of related experience directly working
with individuals experiencing mental health and addictions challenges; a combination of experience and
education may be considered.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in client service delivery including but not limited to assessing client needs, safety
concerns, crisis intervention, and safety planning.

  • Ability to shift directions, work under pressure and support team members as required.
  • Strong crisis intervention, deescalating, conflict management and resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of issues specific to women experiencing homelessness including poverty, trauma, domestic
violence, addictions, and mental health.

  • Knowledge of the "Housing First" philosophy and housing models.
  • You thrive in an environment where everyone works hard to support women as they build their social and
community connections and develop a sense of mastery over their lives.

  • Your organizational skills and experiences allow you to work well under pressure, think critically,
conscientiously, and intentionally.

  • Current CPR and First Aid, ASIST, and NVCI certifications are an asset.
  • A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Intervention Record Check is
required upon commencement of employment.
