- Assessing clients' mental health needs through interviews, evaluations, and observation to diagnose emotional or mental disorders.
- Developing customized treatment plans based on individual needs, employing various therapeutic techniques (such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or family therapy).
- Providing counseling and therapy sessions to help clients understand and cope with their emotions, behaviors, and relationships. This involves active listening, empathy, and guidance.
- Reviewing and evaluating clients' progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Keeping accurate and confidential records of clients' sessions, assessments, and treatment plans in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
- Collaborating with other mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists, social workers, or medical doctors, and referring clients to specialists when needed.
- Educating clients and their families about mental health conditions, coping strategies, and resources available to support their well-being.
- Offering both group and individual sessions on an as-needed basis.
- Experience working with seniors, healthcare workers, and long-term care clients is an asset.
- Familiar using EMR systems and video platforms including Microsoft Teams.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience working in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, patience, and a nonjudgmental attitude to establish rapport and trust with clients.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive client information.
- Ability to assess complex situations, analyze issues, and develop effective treatment plans.
- Understand and respect economic, cultural, religious, racial, and gender diversity to provide inclusive and sensitive care to clients from various backgrounds.
- Master's or Doctorate degree in a Social Sciences discipline such as Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy or equivalent
- Registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors or Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
- Strong aptitude and experience in evidence-based therapy models such as Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systems Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Crisis Counseling, Group Therapy, Resource Counseling and more
