Who We Are:


Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s.

The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.


Job Overview:


Under the direction of the Guest Services Manager, the Gate Hosts will execute all aspects of gate entry, excellent guest service, and ticket as well as membership sales.

As the first and last point of contact for our guests, it is imperative that those in this role have excellent guest experience and a problem-solving skillset.


Responsibilities:

Program Development and Delivery

  • Provide excellent guest experience by warmly welcoming them to Heritage Park, inviting them to travel back in time and experience time frames from the 1860's 1920's in early Western Canada
  • Provide guests with ticket and/or membership services, explaining the benefits of membership upgrades
  • Share information regarding Heritage Park and daily activities, enhancing their visit by ensuring they are aware of Park events and offerings
  • Maintain the entrance area in accordance with prescribed standards of safety, security and cleanliness
  • Assist other departments, such as tour groups and school groups with entry requirements
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Organizational Excellence and Wellbeing
  • Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park through your roles and responsibilities by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with the overall mission and vision of the Park
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety by complying with Heritage Park's Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS), following safe work practices, reporting workrelated incidents, injuries and hazards, participating in employer training, and adhering policies including the Code of Conduct and the Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy
  • Actively support a positive work environment through creating an atmosphere of inclusion, engagement and fulfillment in line with Heritage Park values
  • Demonstrate responsible stewardship of our people, collections and financial assets by ensuring that they are handled with integrity, sustainability, and a focus on longterm benefits for the organization and its stakeholders

Required Qualifications:


  • Enrolment in or completion of postsecondary education would be an asset
  • Prior experience in customer service, communications, and/or tourism experience would be an asset
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset
  • Capacity to build rapport with customers, understand their needs, and address their concerns in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, handle customer complaints tactfully, and work under pressure
  • Enthusiasm for providing excellent service and a proactive approach to problemsolving
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, guest engagement, and communication skills in a clientfaced setting

Special Clothing and Equipment:

Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park; and

Footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department, will be provided by the employee.


Special Working Conditions:

The position will be exposed to weather extremes and will work both indoors and outdoors

This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must have the ability to stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the Park for extended periods


Hours of Work:

The schedule for this position varies based on the time of year and Park activities

The schedule will generally include weekdays, weekends, holidays and some evenings, as Heritage Park is open 7 days a week during the operating season
