Plains Midstream Canada is looking for a Materials Technician based at the Fort Saskatchewan facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This is a key position supporting all activities within the facility working with Operations, maintenance, project engineering and construction. This position is permanent/full-time, Monday through Friday dayshift.


Responsibilities:


  • Inventory management and controls, shipping/receiving of goods, parts kitting/staging, physical inventory cycle counts
  • Managing physical distribution of materials to customers/stakeholders
  • Operating Warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks and company vehicle as required
  • Housekeeping (including warehouse, warm, cold, north storage buildings, and outside shipping receiving area) ensuring that areas are clean, decluttered, and Plains' assets are protected
  • Following quality assurance/quality control process for ABSA/PMC related documentation and controls. MTR-LOC compliance, SDS labelling, Hazardous goods shipping
  • Conducting physical inventory counts routinely to ensure correct balance, maintaining and verifying inventory of spare parts, chemicals and consumables
  • Identifying and implementing cost improvements through managing obsolescence and duplications, determining the disposal of material
  • Coordinate shipping and deliveries to meet site schedules
  • Works with Team Leaders to develop effective minimum/maximum order levels to support inventory
  • Optimize consumable, maintenance and critical spare inventory based on FIFO concepts
  • Management of temporary rental equipment
  • Large Project/Outage related materials management
  • Maintaining multiple storage facilities surplus and project materials and assets
  • Managing consumable/VMI stock with multiple vendors
  • Inventory purchasing through requisition process
  • Daily focus on individual and team safety workfront preparation, prejob hazard assessments, hazard identification
  • Understanding and adhering to safety practices, procedures, and policies
  • Provide support during nonbusiness hours as necessary

Qualifications:


  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience working in a warehouse
  • Materials Technician or Parts Technician certification
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant supply chain management experience
  • Demonstrates excellent communications, organizational and business skills
  • Consistently meet internal customers' expectations and company performance measures
  • Excellent skills in effectively working within crossfunctional teams, and generating results through coordinating the inputs and efforts of others
  • Demonstrates ability to drive for results with mínimal supervision; must have a strong work ethic
  • Able to prioritize multiple requirements
  • Proficient in Maximo, software skills with Microsoft suite of tools
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including preemployment D&A testing; and
  • Compliance with the Company's requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE.
