Division Overview
The Partnership's Cancer Systems, Performance and Innovation Division drives improvements in Canada's cancer system through data, research, economic modelling and innovations such as digital healthcare.
This division monitors emerging health technologies and leverages data systems to determine gaps and opportunities for improvements in cancer care and informs internal partners on innovative approaches, international best practice and compelling evidence to support key partnership decision making.
The System Performance team, part of the CSPI division, promotes the use of data and evidence to support decision-making through data collection, analysis and reporting on the performance of the cancer system.
Overview of Role
The Manager, System Performance supports the Cancer Systems, Performance & Innovation Division in carrying out projects and initiatives to achieve organizational priorities.
Reporting to the Director, Performance, the Manager leads the delivery of program/project objectives.As a highly organized professional with strong time management and people management skills, this position delivers on the tasks of the job while contributing to the Partnership's overall vision to reduce the burden of cancer on all Canadians.
Core Responsibilities & Activities
Program Specific Responsibilities
- Plays a leadership role in helping to develop and provide oversight for the organizational strategy for cancer system performance, including the development, production and delivery of meaningful cancer system knowledge products, analyses, and other initiatives related to evaluating the performance of cancer control in Canada
- Collaborates with others to develop and monitor System Performance project milestones, timelines, budgets, risks and contracts to ensure objectives and outcomes are met
- Supports the development of the panCanadian Cancer Data Strategy and implementation of partner funding activities
- Collaborates with others to implement strategies for the dissemination of system performance data to maximize impact, including implementation of digital storytelling approaches for system performance data
- Oversees organizational processes related to the gathering, use, interpretation, and validation of system performance information
- Oversees and facilitates strategic partner engagement, in the advancement of System Performance projects/initiatives
- Establishes, develops, and maintains relationships with international, national, regional, and provincial/territorial levels of government ministries and cancer agencies, as well as professional organizations, nongovernmental organizations, and Indigenous partners to further project/program objectives
- Keeps abreast of current trends and best practice related to data, measurement and reporting in Canada and internationally
- Works crossfunctionally on projects and initiatives at the Partnership, providing measurement and reporting advice, as well as coordinating content development, writing and contributing to data analysis activities.
- Complements the work of the Manager, Analytics & Data Integration, to ensure a fully integrated and collaborative model between teams to support data and measurement activities.
- Works closely with the Manager, Research & Innovation, and First Nations, Inuit and Métis Lead, Data & Partnerships to advance Indigenousled data governance, measurement and reporting.
- Provides strategic and timely advice to the Director, Performance and VP, Cancer Systems, Performance & Innovation, and other Partnership program areas on the measurement of the cancer control system
General Responsibilities
- Manages the planning, development, and execution of system performance activities as appropriate
- Facilitates the integration of expert advice into program/project work to further organizational outcomes
- Supports the Director in program planning, including the development of the annual work plan and budget, long term plans, and determining the outcomes of projects/programs
- Oversees and actively contributes to progress reporting as required for senior management, the Board of Directors and Health Canada
- Works closely with others to contribute content expertise to project opportunity assessments and project plans, and ensures alignment with the Partnership's goals and priorities
- Contributes to a highperforming and inclusive leadership team, including effective corporate leadership, governance and strategic alignment
- Support the development of equityfocused and reconciliatory work through the inclusion of diverse partners, including Indigenous and equitydeserving groups, and program teams to deliver on objectives
- Manages external partner agreements, workplans, and vendor contracts
- Leads and supports staff to implement projects and achieve team objectives
