Responsibilities:


The Research Assistant will work closely with a team of researchers in the processing and analysis of cross-sectional and longitudinal neuroimaging datasets to study psychosis.

In particular, the incumbent will analyse cognitive and clinical data and contribute to the acquisition of this data, and in the integration of these data with imaging using innovative approaches.

The incumbent will also recruit participants for these studies.


Qualifications:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Website management with educational content.
  • Developing training videos.
  • Acquisition of data from all participants across various studies currently being undertaken
  • Contribute to the development of imaging, linguistic, cognitive, and clinical databases and data entry.
  • Promote an effective collaborative relationship with related projects.
  • Contribute to reports, and dissemination of findings and papers at internal and external academic meetings and conferences.
  • Other relevant activities as directed by Prof. Lena Palaniyappan in collaboration with Dr. Jean Theberge

Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Master's in Science preferred

Experience:


  • 1 year of work experience supporting research in clinical research
  • Clinical research experience, recruiting patients with psychosis
  • Previous experience of research in multicentre studies and demonstrable excellence in conducting scientific research

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Research experience in computational and cognitive neuroscience and analysis of cognition and clinical variables, along with imaging data
  • Ability to comply with research governance
  • Presenting results at conferences
  • Detailoriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
  • Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
  • Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research
  • Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
  • Familiarity with experimental design and analysis
  • Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
  • Microsoft Access and Excel
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical information
  • Interest in working in clinical research aimed at improved clinical outcomes and quality of life
  • Proven flexibility with a high level of initiative and self direction
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
