  • Reporting to the Recruitment Officer, the Administrator, Support Staff Recruitment will be responsible _
- for: _

- _Coordinating the full-cycle recruitment process for on-call replacement staff across all support _
- staff bargaining units, to ensure a high quality and engaged roster of replacement staff are _
- available to schools and administrative departments; _
- _Providing information and advice regarding TDSB hiring practices, ensuring that provisions of _
- collective agreements are met; _
- _Providing confidential support to the Staffing & Recruitment management team (e.g. preparation, _
- analysis, and interpretation of data and reports regarding internal and external applicants to the _
- replacement staff rosters, including those who have been recommended, interviewed or hired); _
- and _
- _Preparing, analyzing and interpreting information pertaining to fill rates of on-call replacement _
- staff for all support staff bargaining units


Summary of Duties:

training and testing of newly hired on-call replacement staff for all support staff bargaining units;
Lead selection committees and participate in the interview process as required, including making

recommendations for hire;
Coordinate and conduct reference checks and processing of new hires;
Process files of new hires for documentation;
Research and utilize creative sourcing strategies to attract suitable applicants;
Research, co-ordinate, prepare and attend career fairs including information to be distributed to

attendees and answering inquiries with respect to employment at the TDSB;
Provide confidential support to the Staffing & Recruitment management team, including

preparation of reports, agendas, correspondence and data;
Develop and maintain databases;
Gather and analyze confidential information pertaining to replacement staffing for all support staff

bargaining units, and respond to requests for such information in a timely manner;
Provide guidance, training and orientation to temporary clerical staff and co-op students;
Input and track attendance records;

Create and track all purchase orders and supplies;
Respond to inquiries and resolve escalated issues from Principals, Managers, other TDSB staff,

unions, prospective employees, and the public;
Liaise with Employee Services departments, Superintendents, Principals/Managers,

school/department office staff, replacement staff, universities/colleges, unions, and other external
organizations;
Assist with investigation/maintenance/development of automated records management and
dispatch system for replacement staff;
Implement and maintain business procedures for quality control purposes;
Arrange and/or attend meetings onsite or offsite as required;
Assist other areas within Employee Services as required; and
Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Two year community college diploma in Business Administration - Human

Resources with two years of progressively responsible related experience in
recruitment and selection within a large unionized public sector environment, or an
equivalent combination of education and experience;
Knowledge of recruitment and selection trends and best practices;
Knowledge of labour market trends;
Proven ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with a customer service focus;*** Ability to provide guidance and direction to staff;*** Proven ability to organize and co-ordinate a diverse number of projects;*** Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills;*** Proven ability to accurately document information, prepare reports and summaries;*** Understanding and working knowledge of employment related government legislation

(e.g., Employment Standards Act, Freedom of Information Act, Labour Relations Act,
AODA) and related Board policies and collective agreement provisions;
Proficiency and expertise in the use of computer technology including MS Office (e.g., Word,
Excel, Access, PowerPoint), employee dispatch systems (e.g. Smart Find Express) and HRIS
systems;***Proven ability to work under pressure in order to meet frequent deadlines;
Ability to take initiative, work independently and maintain confidential information in a circumspect

manner.***

Special Requirement:

Ability to work overtime or irregular hours with little or no notice;
