RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

General Duties

In collaboration with research nurses, clinical research coordinator and lab technician, ensuring samples from ongoing clinical trials are used as per protocol.
Developing basic research in the field of human immunology/virology and clinical research projects
Using state of the art technics such as RNAseq and metabolomics on samples collected by the lab, in addition to classical technics such as ELISA, flow cytometry, qPCR and ddPCR, histology and microscopy, with the support of the platforms of the RI-MUHC
Analysing data and performing proper statistical comparisons.
Drafting and editing manuscripts, presenting results in national and international conferences
Participating in project design and writing.

Work on clinical samples (blood, stools, and tissues) from people living with HIV or COVID-19 in an adequately secured environment.

Education / Experience

PhD in immunology, virology, biochemistry or a related field.
Strong interest in working in the field of HIV infection and COVID1
Laboratory experience in primary cell culture, molecular biology and immunology.
Ability to guide and supervise student experiments
Significant scientific contributions
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required.

Additional information

Status:
Temporary, full time. One-year renewable contract

Pay Scale:
Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays to Fridays

Work Site:
MUHC Glen site (1001 Decarie Blvd, Montreal)

A Postdoctoral Fellow will receive a stipend or a bursary from a grant for research activities that will be performed on a fulltime basis. All benefits are administered by the University under which they are registered.
