Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Accessible Employment, the HR Coordinator, Accessible Employment will support the unit's advancement of the University's accessibility and accommodation objectives relating to employment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Disability Consultant in administering the University's sick leave program for all regular and fulltime faculty and staff. This includes reviewing medical documentation and accident reports, as well as communicating on matters concerning cognitive and physical limitations, job demands, work environments, University policies, sick leave and longterm disability benefits and accommodation.
  • Recommend ergonomic evaluations of workstations and analysis of occupational requirements of jobs and assessment of work areas to ensure the prevention of repetitive strain injuries and to accommodate employees with disabilities.
  • Coordinate communications among all parties involved (employee, manager, Employee Benefits, Pensions) to determine the timing and conditions of employee's return to work on a modified basis. Educate managers regarding the accommodations and/or modifications contained in the ReturntoWork Plan to ensure they support and assist the process.
  • In coordination with other HR departments, identify opportunities to build awareness of the work of the Accessible Employment unit and promote relevant initiatives to appropriate audiences across campus. Assist the Director and Accessibility Advisor with the development of an education/outreach plan for the unit to deliver on the established goals and objectives.
  • Maintain the Accessible Employment treatment and other resources budget. Ensure invoices are paid on a timely basis. Maintain records of transactions and produce reports for analysis.

Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field, with three to five years' related work experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Sound knowledge of ability to interpret accessibility requirements as they relate to employment, as well as experience in human rights policies and procedures and the duty to accommodate is required.
  • Demonstrated high level of cultural competency and ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in MS office 365 (word, excel, power point).
  • Strong multitasking skills, and the ability to shift priorities quickly.
