Child and Youth Care Practitioner/Child and Youth Care

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide direct, client care and supervision to clients in the residential program setting.
  • Perform the duties of a Primary Worker including.
  • Promote an environment of inclusion that promotes equity and respects diversity.
  • Develop and deliver activities and therapeutic programs.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the residents in the facility.
  • Complete documentation and reports as required.
  • Participate in the daytoday operation of the facility.
  • Shift work is required day and evening shifts, and every other weekend.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Must have a Diploma or Degree in a related field (i.e.; CYCP CYC BSW)
    Minimum of 4 Month of experience working with adolescents or homeless youth, preferably in a shelter setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with at risk adolescents and young adults.
  • Understanding of the complex issues facing our clients.
  • Knowledge of the issues facing homeless and streetinvolved youth, as well as community resources that are current to the demographic of clientele.
  • Ability to exercise professionalism and sound judgement and patience in conflictual and stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to resolve issues with supervisors and coworkers in a manner that is respectful and cooperative in accordance with the agency culture and philosophy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with youth and team members
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification
  • Valid UMAB certification
  • Completion of required suicide prevention and intervention training as per Shelter Standards
  • Full vaccination (minimum 2 doses) against COVID19 with a Health Canada approved vaccine series

Job Types:

Salary:
$20.00 per hour

  • Monday to Friday
  • Morning shift
  • Night shift
  • Weekends as needed

Licence/Certification:
- (UMAB) Understand & Managing Aggressive Behavior's (required)
- (ASIST) Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (required)
