The Advisor, IT Strategy, Planning and Performance is a key member of the IT Strategy, Planning and Performance team and is responsible for the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the IT Branch Management Operating System, supporting a framework that ensures the work done by the IT Branch is performed effectively so that desired outcomes are achieved.


The Advisor, IT Strategy, Planning and Performance is a key contributor to define, effectively deploy and update/refresh the IT Branch multi-year strategy to enable the IT organization and the airline to achieve business objectives and goals.

The incumbent will work alongside IT leadership to identify improvement opportunities, leverage change management principles to lead effective and sustainable change to the IT operating model and implement the necessary controls (KPIs, balanced scorecards) to track progress.


Additionally, the incumbent will support and where needed lead critical and sensitive analysis, reporting and communication efforts in support of the senior leadership team.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, IT Strategy & Effectiveness.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage the development of IT planning, budget and outlooks to enable the achievement of IT and corporate strategic goals and objectives in collaboration with key stakeholders and partners (Finance, HR and Strategic Procurement)
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a standard IT Management Operating System to ensure the delivery of expected business value and outcomes
  • Support the maintenance/update of the IT Branch multiyear strategy to ensure alignment to corporate priorities and to account for changes to the operating environment
  • Support the implementation of a strategy deployment framework for the IT Branch, to ensure execution efforts align to strategy and drive the desired outcomes at the business IT level
  • Lead IT operating model improvement efforts by identifying opportunities and leveraging change management best practices to ensure effective and sustainable actualization of the opportunities
  • Collaborate with members of the senior leadership team on the monthly Business Review process to report on and track accomplishments, shortterm plan, and risk/concerns/issues
  • Lead the development of IT Branch balanced scorecard to track and analyze performance and work with IT Senior Leadership Team to define scorecards for their domain
  • Responsible for Senior level and high visibility communication efforts for the IT Branch, including all executive briefs, investor/external stakeholder updates, and other efforts
  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of a formal training plan and portfolio for the IT branch by identifying knowledge and skills gaps and developing the right portfolio of training opportunities to address those gaps
  • Responsible for the internal IT team communication efforts to ensure high level of awareness among the IT team members through managing the content on communication channels (IT Central, IT Jam, Discover IT, etc.)
  • Support other functions under the responsibility of IT Strategy, Planning and Performance team such as, employee engagement, workplace management, Contingent workforce management, etc. through collaborating with key stakeholders such as HR, Strategic Procurement, Corporate Real Estate, and others
  • Be a trusted strategic advisor to the IT Leadership team

Qualifications

  • 710 years of Strategy, IT technology or operations experience in a large company
  • Previous Management Consulting or similar experience is an asset
  • A relevant university degree (e.g. Computer Science, Business Management, Engineering)/technical certification, and/or relevant experience commensurate to the role
  • An MBA is an asset
  • Ability to synthesize information and create executive level reports, presentations and communications tailored to different audience, including to the Senior Management team
  • Experience working/collaborating and navigating relationships with stakeholders of all levels
  • ITIL and COBIT certification is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft suite, especially in Powerpoint and Excel
  • Able to multitask and work under pressure against tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Selfmotivated and independent worker with a drive for quality and continuous improvement Results oriented with proactive and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Must be a team player with ability to work closely with diverse groups and working styles
