  • Engaging with thousands of young learners and adults across the country through the delivery of community-centered workshops.
  • Designing and deploying interactive experiences, online learning modules, and maker kits to teach STEAM fundamentals to all ages.
  • Publishing the nationally-recognized Root & STEM magazine, creating a space to explore diverse voices and stories in STEAM.
  • Operating makerspaces in Nunavut & Ontario, providing hands-on access to tools, equipment, and training for inquisitive minds and makers.

Role Overview:


As a member of our Mentorship and Job Creation team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our internal and external Mentorship Program.

Additionally, you will focus on creating job opportunities by connecting talented individuals with industry partners and facilitating internships or employment placements.


Responsibilities:


  • Liaise with employers and community partners to create and maintain a collaborative referral network, ensuring a strong pool of job opportunities for program participants.
  • Negotiate job placements and internships with employers to secure valuable and relevant work experiences for program participants.
  • Support clients by providing referrals to relevant support services and skills training, ensuring they are equipped for success in their career journeys.

Attributes and Qualifications:


  • Passion for STEAM education and a commitment to empowering individuals in underserved communities through mentorship and job opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with employers, community partners, and program participants.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure meaningful job placements and internships for program participants.
  • Resourcefulness and creativity in identifying and developing job opportunities across various industries and sectors.
  • Understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by individuals in accessing career opportunities, particularly in rural and Indigenous communities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting the organization's mission and objectives. Previous experience in mentorship, job placement, career counseling, or related fields (2+ years) is a plus
