Primary Purpose


The purpose of the Finance Assistant - Commissions position is to monitor and maintain student financial accounts, ensure the collection of tuition fees, process refunds to qualified students, and provide accounting-related services to the campus.

Under general supervision, the Finance Assistant - Commissions is responsible for providing assistance, advice and guidance to support the
financial needs of students and to ensure the collection of funds and refund distribution.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of corporate financial policies and procedures, and diligently enforce them to ensure compliance within the organization.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service when addressing student inquiries, effectively resolving issues and providing accurate information in a timely manner.
  • Foster cohesive working relationships by actively engaging in internal and external communication channels, ensuring effective collaboration and coordination among stakeholders.
  • Process the agent commission invoices, verify details and set up prompt payments.
  • Perform accounting entries, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions, and maintaining the integrity of financial data.
  • Conduct regular reconciliation of commission accounts payable accounts, identify any discrepancies and take necessary corrective measures.
  • Provide valuable support to the finance department by delivering accurate and timely information as required.
  • Create, organize, and maintain agent commission invoices, ensuring all relevant information is accurately recorded.
  • Perform data entry tasks in Excel, and effectively utilize spreadsheet functions to enhance data management and analysis.
  • Develop and generate commission worksheets in Excel, utilizing advanced features and formulas to accurately calculate and track agent commissions, providing valuable insights for financial analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
To be successful in the Finance Assistant - Commissions position, an individual must be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:

Education and Experience:


  • 2 years of postsecondary education
  • Basic training in office practices, accounting, and communication
  • Office experience in a serviceoriented, fastpaced environment
  • Minimum oneyear education in Finance or Accounting program
  • Minimum oneyear experience in accounting/finance area
