The Youth and Family Caseworker will work in partnership with other Caseworkers and the Clinical Team to support youth and their families with acute mental health conditions.

The Case Worker uses the Wellness Model to encourage a healthy lifestyle by utilizing community supports and recreational participation.

As a member of the YCSP team, your primary responsibility is to provide youth and families with the supports necessary to meet their treatment and mental wellness goals.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team to assist youth with acute mental health challenges lead more healthy and stable lives
  • Utilize a harmreduction and strengthbased perspective to develop new supports while strengthening existing formal supports
  • Enhance the youth and family's connection to community services and support youth pursue their physical and emotional wellness
  • Assist in the development and revision of goal plans
  • Co-Facilitate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills groups, in partnership with a clinical team
  • Support clinicians in disseminating, translating, and practicing DBT material when needed and in alignment with outreach deliverables
  • Assist in program development to enhance life skills to support independence (building healthy relationships, emotional regulation, sexual health, distress tolerance etc.)
  • Build positive relationships with related community agencies/partners
  • Contribute to social and community programming for youth and facilitate as needed
  • Demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm, and creativity in providing support to youth and families with complex mental health needs
  • BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field (Human Services, Social Work) and/or relevant work experience
  • Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
  • Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
  • Valid Class 5 Non GDL license and access to a reliable vehicle
