Business Development Associate - Mining/Minerals
What you Bring to the Team:
- High School Diploma
- 1 year experience or formal training with machining equipment
- Good communication and listening skills
- Common sense
Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities:
- Machine samples consistent with defined standard tolerances for specified mechanical tests using the following equipment: manual lathe, manual milling machine, tensilkut milling machine, manual grinder, manual broaching machine, drill press, a horizontal metal cutting saw, vertical metal cutting saw, hand grinder, and other hand tools as necessary to perform the task.
- Prepare samples daily for chemical analysis using the following equipment: cutting samples in the vertical or horizontal metal cutting saw, drill press to get drilling chips for testing, milling machines to get chips for testing, hand cutters to cut the sample, and other tools necessary to perform the task.
- Be prepared to machine, polish, and mount samples and prepare samples for microstructural analysis.
- Maintain all the equipment in the machine shop, and maintain the Instron Tensile Test Machine
- Responsible for housekeeping in and around the machine shop
- Build test fixtures as necessary, and install those test fixtures on the Instron Tensile Test Machine to perform mechanical tests
- Perform mechanical tensile tests every day on the Instron Tensile Testing Machine
- Ensure compliance with all safety requirements and procedures, and committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace

The Role:
This position will be working within the Materials Testing department. In this role, you will be utilizing several tools to prepare and test samples provided by clients.

Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay:
$21.00-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 per week
