Description

A Environmental Technician is responsible for the sorting and handling of hazardous and nonhazardous waste products to ensure proper identification, treatment, and processing of waste in the facility.

Additionally, the Environmental Technician is responsible for the proper loading and unloading of vehicles including vacuum trucks and tankers.


The Environmental Technician will coordinate sampling and analysis to determine the correct course of treatment for hazardous waste as prescribed by standard procedures and operational permits.

The Environmental Technician will treat waste by adding materials necessary to alter the chemical nature of solid and liquid waste in a manner that is always safe and secure.

The Environmental Technician will maintain all necessary records to support safe and compliant operations. The Environmental Technician will ensure strict operating procedures and safety standards are always followed.


Key Job Activities:


  • Perform Hazardous and nonhazardous waste treatment methods and processes
  • Perform or coordinate sampling, and dataentry
  • Loading and unloading hazardous and nonhazardous waste from tankers, totes, vacuum trucks
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationship with other departments and teams to determine treatment courses for all waste.
  • Forklift operation
  • Operating and maintaining plant equipment
  • Sorting, Dumping and Packing of waste items by hazardous and nonhazardous categories.
  • Data entry
  • Completion of production reports
  • Other task as required

Key Competencies:


  • 13 years of relevant experience in related field
  • Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods preferred.
  • Degree or diploma in Chemistry, environmental sciences, waste management or related studies is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to positively execute the services of the business.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make sound decisions after considering all facts, potential risks, customer needs, and alternative solutions when dealing with all types of issues.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a safe, responsible, and ethical manner either alone or under direct supervision.

Job Types:

From $24.00 per hour
