Job Summary:


Reporting to the Assistant Head of School (AHoS), the Alumni Engagement Coordinator role is mainly focussed on increasing alumni engagement with Mulgrave to further strengthen and develop the alumni community.

Working with the AHoS, they will develop and implement a strategy for alumni outreach, alumni volunteer engagement, and student-alumni connections, creating opportunities that lead to a meaningful and progressive relationship with Mulgrave.

A secondary focus is to develop a culture of philanthropy and volunteerism that reflects the one that our current Mulgrave community embodies.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and implement an annual alumni engagement operational plan, including a comprehensive communication plan and a wide variety of engagement activities.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the alumni programme, including the planning and execution of the following:
  • All alumni events, including an annual reunion, an annual Homecoming, a late spring gathering, and any additional social and/or professional gatherings
  • Alumni regional chapters and/or affinity groups in cities such as Toronto, Montreal, New York, London, Shanghai and Los Angeles (and be prepared to travel to these locations as required)
  • Outreach activities and volunteer opportunities, especially those related to the studentalumni connection
  • Work closely with the Senior School staff and the University Counselling team to build relationships with Grade 1012 students before they graduate in order to show them the value of remaining connected to Mulgrave
  • Recruit and engage current and past faculty and staff, as well as student and alumni volunteers to deliver a meaningful experience in virtual, oncampus and regional activities and events
  • Develop and build strong relationships with faculty, staff, and families across the school to facilitate the effective and efficient coordination of education programmes, events and activities
  • Manage all aspects of marketing and communication for alumni engagement
  • Prepare and actively engage in social media messaging and communications by preparing content for a variety of platforms and mediums
  • Engage regularly with our alumni audience through online platforms, especially LinkedIn
  • Create content for a monthly newsletter and the alumni section of the school's annual magazine
  • Contribute to alumni content targeted to the school's current families, including enewsletters, event invitations, and social media updates
  • Maintain and update the 'Alumni Forest' and the alumni displays in the main Administration Hallway
  • Develop and maintain the alumni database
  • Develop milestones and measures for alumni engagement in events, programmes and/or activities, with a focus on outcomes that grow the alumni programme
  • Manage Mulgrave Connect (our alumni software platform), including its use as a way for alumni to update their contact information and educational and professional details, and incorporate this platform into the alumni engagement strategy to make it a hub for our alumni
  • Work with the Advancement Database Manager to update alumni data in Raiser's Edge NXT, paying close attention to alumni engagement metrics
  • Prepare and update alumni file notes as a result of contact with alumni in order to maintain record accuracy
  • Maintain and update the school historical archive, records, and archive room
  • Work closely with the Graphic Designer to maintain the school's photo archive
  • Maintain the school's Honorary Lifetime Membership for alumni parents
  • Support the Alumni Advisory Board and liaise with and support the work of key alumni class reps

Qualifications:


  • A minimum of two years of directly applicable experience or in communications and marketing
  • Strong written communications skills, with particular emphasis on digital
  • Strong oral communication skills, comfortable in groups and presentations
  • Experience with social media
  • Event marketing experience would be an asset
  • Experience with databases, MS Office, and content management systems
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, mobile and web technologies would be an asset
  • Bachelor's Degree or suitable alternative
