    We are situated near the heart of downtown Surrey, near Skytrain and transit.

    This large headquarters houses several of the integrated operations, senior management and corporate services to support the priorities of the RCMP in British Columbia and the Yukon.

    Positions are in the Finance section of Corporate Management Branch, which includes Financial Management and Internal Control.

    The Finance Section provides advice and services on budgeting, forecasting, reporting, training and controls in the Pacific Region, which includes "E" and "M" Divisions.

    This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

    Person(s) may be able to work Telework up to 2 days per week, upon approval of the manager. The anticipated intent/result of this process is to indeterminately staff (on a full time basis) one position.

    A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent or temporary vacancies (including terms, actings, casuals, assignments and secondments) in similar-level positions (at full or part-time hours, including shift-work).

    A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group;
    Eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation.

    The recognized professional accounting designations are Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA).

    NOTE – degree includes at least six courses in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, or economics. Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial Analysis, Internal Control, Auditing, Costing, and Accounting Operations.


    • Significant and Recent * experience in providing financial advice to clients and/or senior management in one or more of the following areas: financial management, accounting operations, internal control, internal audit, and financial policy.
    • Significant and Recent * experience in the use of MS Office software (e.g. Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
    • Significant and Recent * experience in using an integrated financial system such as SAP, Oracle Financials, or ACCPAC, etc.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
    Ability to work effectively in a hybrid / virtual environment.

    Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA).

    Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial Analysis, Internal Control, Auditing, Costing, and Accounting Operations.


    • Experience in making presentations or in providing training to management and clients in a classroom setting.
    • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Access. (Using macros, creating a database, maintaining a database. Experience in the financial administration of police service agreements within the RCMP.
    • Experience in supervising staff in an office environment.
    • Availability, willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
