Job Purpose:

Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus
Good working knowledge of _The Highway and Transportation Act_ and _The Traffic Safety Act_
Good working knowledge of the _Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook _and_ Saskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook_
Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour
Demostrated patience, maturity and experience working with children
Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision

Qualifications:

Must hold and maintain a Class 15 Driver's License and valid School Bus Endorsement

- training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers

Clear driver's abstract, with no major infractions
A copy of the abstract can be:
faxed to
Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with _The Highway Traffic Act_
First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.

Working Conditions:

Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $52.13 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.194/km
The mileage for this route is paid at the minimum of 90 kms and takes approximately 2.5 hours per day, for a total of $69.59 per day.
Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus
Subject to CUPE Agreement
Commencing August 30, 202
Working in varied climates and differing road conditions
Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
