Security and Access Control Technician

_UNDER REVIEW_


Under the direction of the Fire/Life Safety Specialist or designate, the Security and Access Control Technician is responsible for facilitating the installation, repair, and testing of controlled access systems, security systems, and surveillance systems.

The incumbent is also responsible for programming the access levels and user profiles for employees as determined by the supervisor.

The Security and Access Control Technician will coordinate with facility Administrators, Operations, Projects, and Facility Services management to schedule maintenance work, as well as ensure safe, reliable operation of all mechanical and electrical components associated with controlled access systems.

The Security and Access Control Technician will educate staff on how to operate and use their controlled access system and help contribute to the development of policies and procedures, workflows, and work instructions regarding controlled access programs.

The incumbent will be skilled in conflict resolution tactics, prioritization, and time management and should have the ability to work both independently and part of a team.

The Security and Access Control Technician will be required to travel to a variety of locations with diagnostic tools and Board equipment.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary certificate in Electronic Technician or Computer Networking or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code and any applicable codes and standards
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience working in securitycontrolled access or a related discipline, with security project lead experience
  • In depth knowledge of AFX Enterprise would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of controlled access door hardware would be considered an asset
  • Must have a valid Provincial Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle

RATE OF PAY :
$26.92 per hour


HOURS : 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week between with a maximum 1 hour unpaid lunch
