  • The Information Quality (IQ) department is a team dedicated to enhancing the quality of CIHI's data sources and information products and to fostering CIHI's quality culture. Data and information quality are fundamental to achieving CIHI's vision — Better data. Better decisions. Healthier Canadians. Our department aims to be a Centre of excellence for quality, providing leadership and expertise to all of CIHI to help achieve this vision.
  • The Program Specialist assists with stakeholder engagement, project coordination and administration related to key products and services including CIHI's Information Quality Framework and Data and Analytics Ethical Framework. The Program Specialist supports the development, implementation and improvement of corporate information quality tools and processes, including metadata. Tasks include preparation of presentations, drafting reports, creating background documentation, briefing notes, and providing additional support towards deliverables as required.
  • What you'll do
  • 1. Develops and maintains an understanding of CIHI's Information Quality Framework and Data and Analytics Ethical Framework and associated toolkits.
  • 2. Contributes to the evolution of the Information Quality Framework and Data and Analytics Ethical Framework and associated toolkits by supporting analysis and engagement activities with both internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • 3. Researches and synthesizes information on information quality and health data ethics and health concepts. This includes planning, conducting literature scans, documenting, and summarizing findings.
  • 4. Collaborates on initiatives to improve CIHI's quality improvement and metadata, including but not limited to documentation to support external data users and CIHI's Data Advancement Plan.
  • 5. Drafts and participates in the development of reports, briefing notes, presentations and other documentation, as required.
  • 6. Coordinates all operational and logístical aspects related to projects including, but not limited to, organizing and/or facilitating meetings, drafting, and developing pertinent documentation, and undertaking followup activities, and obtaining required approvals.
  • 7. Coordinates the review and feedback process of publication, translation and dissemination and communication of all materials, products, and publications as they relate to information quality and health data ethics, ensuring overall quality assurance.
  • 8. Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholder groups within CIHI, to ensure coordination and synergy.
  • 9. Contributes to the promotion of CIHI products and services through participation on committees, presentations and/or attendance at conferences, preparation of articles for publication and other activities, as required.
  • 10. Assumes responsibility for other related duties, as required.
  • What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Three to five years related work experience. Experience in health data standards, health information management or working with healthcare systems and/or health data.
  • Conceptual understanding of health, the health care system, as well as a sound knowledge of health information and its uses for policy development, planning, management, and evaluation purposes.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, problem solving, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
