The role of the Clinical Addiction Counsellor assists in the facilitation of seamless care paths, by ensuring that patients have supports for appropriate mental health services and supports for addictions concerns.

The Clinical Addictions Counsellor will possess extensive experience in clinical addictions interventions, counselling and resource matching with patients at London Health Sciences Centre that are seeking help.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay:
$ 41.31 per hour - $51.63 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week


Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of a Master's Degree in Social Work
  • Registration in good standing with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • Completion of ASIST & Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
  • Proficiency in administering current Provincial standardized assessment tools (GAIN Suite)
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent relevant experience with minimum four (4) years of recent clinical work experience in outpatient substance abuse (alcohol) treatment including intake services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of individual and group social and behavioral sciences
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial problem identification, strategy selection, intervention, and evaluation as related to alcohol abuse
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policies, legislation, programs, and issues related to social welfare institutions and services
  • Demonstrated critical Thinking and decisionmaking skills
  • Familiarity with social problems, needs, and characteristics of population served
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
