Role:
Life Sciences, Investment Analyst


Established in 2016, OMERS Life Sciences provides non-dilutive financing solutions to the life sciences industry, with a focus on royalty monetizations.

OMERS is well positioned as a long-term investor with the capital, resources and expertise to support innovative life science companies as they address unmet medical needs and improve the quality of life of patients around the world.

The program leverages specialized sector knowledge and industry relationships to gain exposure to attractive biopharma assets to generate a reliable source of absolute return with low correlation to the broader financial markets.

OMERS Life Sciences has committed more than US $3B across more than 20 royalty financing transactions since 2016, while generating strong returns for OMERS.


Under the direction of the Managing Director and Head of Life Sciences, the Investment Analyst, Life Sciences will support all aspects of the investment process as part of a small, specialized and highly collaborative team.

Working alongside experienced investors, the Investment Analyst, Life Sciences will play a key role in the continued growth of the Life Sciences platform at OMERS.


Responsibilities:

Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research (e.g. reviewing scientific literature, interviewing physicians, market research on product profiles, pricing, and adoption in the market) to support investment decisions in the Life Sciences sector.

Support the deal team as it reviews new investments and help monitor existing investments.

Analyze the treatment landscape and assess the clinical profile of pharmaceutical products.

Develop and maintain sales forecasts and valuation models for products and companies of interest.

Prepare investment presentations and memos, synthesizing key findings from research and financial analysis into actionable investment recommendations.

Provide support for the initiatives of the Life Sciences Team as needed.

Contribute to a flexible, team-oriented culture characterized by active, constructive debate.


Qualifications:


A strong academic background combined with progressive experience in asset management, investment banking or consulting, with a focus on biopharma or healthcare.

Excellent analytical, quantitative, and financial modeling skills.

Intellectually curious and detail oriented.

Commitment to stay current on a variety of issues impacting the Life Sciences sector.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas simply.

Proven ability to produce clear, logical, and convincing arguments backed by insightful analysis.

Ability to prioritize competing tasks while producing high-quality deliverables under demanding timelines.
