EveryMind (formerly Peel Children's Centre/Nexus Youth Services) is looking for highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic mental health professionals to work with various programs and services to provide a continuum of mental health interventions to children/youth and their families.


EveryMind is an accredited children's mental health centre that provides a continuum of high quality mental health services for children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges.

Counselling Program
: 0-8 Years Team**The Child and Family Clinician will provide a continuum of mental health interventions, ranging from brief interventions and short-term family counselling, to therapeutic groups with infants/children and caregivers.

These interventions are designed to improve infant/child development, functioning and resiliency in child care, school, home and the community. These services will be delivered in a variety of settings and locations as mutually agreed upon.

Additionally, this service will work with relevant community partners within a mutual capacity building approach, to identify and support infants and children and their families with mental health concerns.


As a Child and Family Clinician, you will assist parents/caregivers to support the social and emotional development of their infant or child.

Your knowledge of child development will support families to manage behavioural issues through the provision of both brief and longer-term counselling consistent with the professional standards and values of EveryMind.

You have a demonstrated knowledge of the social, emotional and psychological development from birth to 8 years of age.

You recognize common behavioural problems, syndromes and disorders of early childhood (e.g., feeding and sleeping difficulties, developmental delays, autistic spectrum disorder).

You have the ability to observe and analyze child-caregiver interactions and recognize the contributions of both to the relationship. You have a proven ability to integrate your knowledge of attachment with providing interventions that enhance the parent-child relationship.

You recognize the signs and symptoms of parental issues that impact parenting (e.g., depression; unresolved trauma; substance use; family violence and adult mental health issues).


Salary - 5-step range of $64,357 - $75,289 over 5 years
Please note that hiring salaries are commensurate with experience and generally start at the beginning of the range.

Responsibilities:


The incumbent will:

  • Provide skilled assessment, formulation, and treatment services to infants/children and their families/caregivers by employing a variety of systemic and evidencebased/evidencedinformed treatment approaches (including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Circle of Security) to enhance parent/family and infant/child interactions and functioning at home, in school/child care and in community;
  • Develop, implement and regularly evaluate treatment plans according to individual client and family/caregiver needs, goals, strengths and cultural values;
  • Facilitate the enhancement of the child and family's informal and formal supports;
  • Effectively design and implement a holistic crisis plan to ensure safety within the treatment, home, school or community settings;
  • Provide case management and outreach services to ensure coordination and delivery of services that meet changing needs of clients and families;
  • Provide transition support and discharge planning to clients exiting service to ensure sustainability of treatment gains;
  • Provide group services as required;
