The Correlative Studies Program provides bio-specimen management and translational research support services to facilitate advanced and comprehensive translational cancer research with an overall goal to aid in discovery of new cancer diagnostic and treatment standards.

The
Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRC) will work directly with the clinical team (PI, MD, RN, etc.) and Correlative Studies Programs at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

The position will create a bridge between the clinical care of the clinical trial patient and the translational aspects of the study.

The
CRC will be responsible for accruing patients to translational research studies.

This may include, but is not limited to, explaining the study protocol to patients, reviewing inclusion/exclusion criteria, documenting the informed consent process, scheduling patient visits and investigations, performing patient interviews, and entering data in to databases in a timely manner.

Other responsibilities include reviewing protocols, creating study specific materials and workflows, tracking biospecimens collected, issuing and resolving queries, attending regular team meetings, and keeping trackers and biospecimen inventories up to date.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree program, or recognized equivalent in a health or science related discipline
  • At least three (3) years clinical research experience, oncology preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • History of direct communication with patients
  • Effective organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and biospecimen management
  • Experience with databases is an asset
  • Recognized certification in clinical research (ACRP or SOCRA), preferred
  • Venipuncture certification or a willingness to learn
