    Description

    The Department of Psychiatry in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

    This position reports to the Principal Investigator.

    This is a recurring part-time position working up to 20 hours per week. Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

    Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

    • Assisting with REB applications and preparing annual progress reports on all open and closed studies and forms as required by the Research Ethics Board (REB)
    • Abstracting data from necessary sources to complete pre-study forms, flow sheets, off study forms and other Forms as dictated by TMS clinical trials protocols
    • Registering patients and informing appropriate personnel of assigned treatment options monitoring the progress of the study and assisting with the recruitment of the patients
    • Coordinating and maintaining critical documents and binders for Clinical Research
    • Reviewing source documentation and case report forms, coordinating, completing and submitting data in a timely and accurate manner
    • Informing study personnel of communications regarding adverse drug reaction reports and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed
    • Coordinating and maintaining a strong liaison with Principal Investigator and TMS scientist regarding ongoing conduct of clinical research
    • Responsible for applying appropriate statistical techniques for research questions and carrying out data analysis
    • Assisting with review of literature, preparation of manuscripts, conference presentations and research rounds, etc.

    Qualifications / Requirements:

    • Undergraduate degree or a combination of equivalent experience
    • 2 years relevant experience
    • Training in clinical research / neurostimulation/ neurophysiology, or related training plus at least 2 years relevant experience
    • Demonstrated abilities in academic literature reviews and academic writing
    • Experience and knowledge of data management and quantitative statistics
    • Computing skills in Microsoft applications and software packages such as Stata, SPSS and Endnote or reference management system
    • Google cloud program certification
    • Endnote or reference management system
    • Strong communication, organizational, time management, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
