Description
The Community Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, instruction, and coordination of a limited range of community-based programs and food bank operations in accordance with the Salvation Army mission, values, and standards.
The incumbent may be responsible for providing support and direction of volunteers in a range of community-based programs and seasonal staffing requirements within established guidelines, when required.
Completion of a Community College Diploma, Social Services Worker, or equivalent.Current, valid First Aid & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certifications or willingness to obtain.
Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License, own vehicle, and insurance, provide an original copy of current driver's abstract for review and verification that it satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience, including, experience in a variety of social service programs, with some supervisory experience and experience communicating orally and in writing.
Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking with government and social service agencies.Experience working with individuals of diverse culture, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
Proficient in working in a computerized environment; must demonstrate strong skills using
Microsoft Office Suite:
Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Sensitivity, awareness, and understanding of client's needs, problems, interests, skills, deficiencies, and idiosyncrasies.
Demonstrate a high level of integrity, good judgment and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
Lead by example, demonstrate a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.
Able to effectively complete multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines and responsibilities.Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
