Description

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for assessing and maintaining the quality of the products and services within Walters fabrication facilities.


This is for the AFTERNOON SHIFT.

Main Responsibilities will Include:


  • Ensures all procedures are being followed throughout all departments at Walters and performs annual internal audits of the Quality Management System; documenting any findings and performing any follow ups as required.
  • Assist in maintaining all procedures and forms per Quality Management System / ISO and AISC.
  • Generates ITP's per contract, as required, which are used in detailing, engineering, fabricating, inspecting and shipping the final product. Also determining the scope of NDT/NDE for the project.
  • Documents any major nonconformance by Site, Supplier etc. in Walters Quality Log. Monitors the log to ensure that entries are inputted correctly as well as addressed and closed out appropriately; following up and assessing corrective actions and lessons learned/ preventative actions.
  • Confirms applicable WPDS are available and used. May notify the weld engineer when necessary.
  • Responds to questions related to QA from engineering, production, etc. by providing technical assistance as required.
  • Communicates with outside inspectors and outside auditors.
  • Attends pre fabrication meetings as required.
  • Attends project review meetings to assess performance and any lessons learned.
  • Inputs inspection records on server per contract as required.
  • Completes tasks in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures of the Quality Assurance Department.

Required:


  • Completion of a Post-Secondary Program in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Internal Auditor Certificate.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in Quality Assurance
  • Experience dealing with clientele on Quality Assurance related matters.

Skills and Competency Requirements

  • Knowledge of AISC, CISC, ISO and other applicable standards and specifications
  • Knowledge of Welding Code and Fitting Standards
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Knowledge of Auditing Practices/Standards
  • A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment
  • An individual who is able to handle a variety of constituencies, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
