We are looking for a
Operations Supervisor at our Walker - Grease Trap Services Toronto location.

  • Position Summary:_


Reporting directly to the Toronto Operations Manager for Walker GTS, the incumbent is responsible for the Toronto night shift operations including training technicians in a union environment, quality control of service, Health and Safety, MTO and MOE requirements, fleet allocation, truck maintenance issues, and documenting process and procedures.


Major (Primary) Responsibilities:


  • Supervising the morning activities of the operations at the Toronto plant location.
  • Supervising a team of employees in a union environment and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with all levels to develop and enforce division quality, health and safety and productivity goals while ensuring all targets are met and maintained.
  • Health and safety training and conduct quarterly inspections addressing issues and enforcing safety requirements.
  • Human resources functions including responding to disciplinary issues, working and maintaining relations with union and HR.
  • Ensures truck routes are progressing and managed efficiently on a daily basis through CRM (Customer Relations Management) software. Liaisons with logistics team and addresses issues as required.

7. Working CSR in regards to re-routing vacant routes (from sickness etc.) by utilizing the CRM program, manage routes and specific calls based on fleet and employee availability.

8. Dealing with phone calls and emergencies during supervisor shift.

9. Ensure quality standards through conducting site and worker inspections and providing additional training as required.

10. Monitor driver logbooks, equipment availability and inventory to ensure the technicians have the tools required.

11. Address issues ad hoc and complete additional duties as required.

This position requires an advanced degree of initiative and judgment in order to organize, prioritize and supervise daily tasks.

  • Advanced negotiation skills to secure costeffective supply contracts, contracts, services and equipment.
  • Advanced numeric skills to analyze and interpret financial information, develop and monitor budgets, recommend improvements and negotiate pricing for extra work to increase profitability.
  • Business acumen advanced understanding of operational standards relative to business management and growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and multitask.
  • Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with clients, vendors, engineers, general public, associates, customers and colleagues, including senior management.
  • Superior knowledge of unionized policies, procedures and collective agreements.

Minimum High School graduation or equivalent plus specialized courses equivalent to a one year diploma or an equivalent level of education.

Requires an understanding of how to perform a variety of different job duties or understanding how to operate basic equipment.

Understanding of the job tasks may be acquired through some job specific courses through schooling, self‐study or through periods of training up to a year in length.

Knowledge is acquired through some post secondary education or apprenticeship and brought to the job, or usually learned within six months of experience on this job or related life experience (compressed time).


  • Experience:_
Greater than 2 years in a supervisory role with a transportation organization.

Certificates, Licenses or Registration:
A valid G Class Driver's license with a clea
