KEY ACCOUNTABILITES:
- Health & Safety:
- Be a role model for employees by demonstrating a high level of ownership and commitment in all matters pertaining to H&S.
- Actively participate and lead the Joint Health and Safety committee.
- Assist with new employee orientation training
- Facilitate and arrange all site HS training (Lock out/Tag out, First Aid+CPR, etc)
- Participate and conduct site inspections, safety meetings
- Maintain and review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and PPE required for the site.
- Work collaboratively with managers and employees to support objectives of risk management and incident reduction.
- Conduct regular and random site safety audits and provide related reports for trends analysis.
- Assist in Investigations of accidents, incidents and near misses and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Work with Management to implement, ensure consistency and improve the entire Health and Safety program and maintain, learn and enforce the Health and Safety regulations, policies, practices and procedures.
- WSIB/First Aid:
- Complete all health and safety reports in a timely manner including but not limited to WSIB and OHS forms and ensure accidents and incidents are properly reported.
- Lead the WSIB cases and act as liaison with management, WSIB and workers in relation to health and safety.
- Manage the Aphria First aid office, WSIB documentation, First aid reports and followup, first aid response, Site first aid kits.
- Provide training in First aid as required.
- Support the Manager of Human Resources team with ESRW (early and safe return to work process) Modified work process.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Health and Safety role in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree from an accredited College or university
- First Aid Training as asset (but a requirement for all JHSC members)
- Cando roll up the sleeves attitude with a thirst for knowledge; excel in a fast spaced, quick change environment
- Self directed, selfmotivated and able to work independently
- Detail oriented, strong data management skills
- Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, approachable, keen listener, quick learner
- High learning agility, adaptable and flexible; effectively manage stress
- Strong organizational skills and able to manage simultaneous priorities
- Decision quality is high, ability to think outside the box to provide first contact/call resolution
- Demonstrate confidence with an ability to effectively manage conflict resolution with employees
- Resilient to day to day business and people challenges; able to confront issues head on and resolve
- Proficient in MS Office, strong in excel
