SaskEnergy is looking for an ambitious and strategic leader to join its Strategic Communications team as the Manager, Government and Media Relations.

In this role you are the key liaison with government stakeholders, the main spokesperson and a key member of the department's leadership team.

You will lead issues management and government relations activities that directly support SaskEnergy's strategic mandates.

You will also design, develop and implement proactive and responsive communications that engage key external audiences, including government, the media, customers and third party interest groups.

Position DetailsNon-union - This position is a permanent full time role.

Key Accountabilities- Develop and implement effective, proactive and reactive media strategies, ensuring programs and services are successfully communicated through the media and social media.- Manage and coordinate media inquiries, preparing response materials, while providing media consultation to senior management and key external stakeholders (i.e. President, Executive, Minister's Office and Executive Council).- Act as Corporate spokesperson.- Maintain guidelines and standards for communications vehicles, including media releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, briefing notes, question and answers, social media content etc., monitoring the quality and effectiveness of these materials.- Provide media and social media analysis, reporting on the effectiveness of the tools and strategies.- Lead the 24/7 on-call emergency communications response function, which provides 24/7 access to SaskEnergy communications personnel during emergency events.

Participate in on-call rotation.- Maintain strong relationships between the Corporation and various branches of government, including Executive Council, the Minister's Office, Crown Investments Corporation and external stakeholders, interacting regularly to communicate with and influence these key stakeholders.- Provide strategic communications advice that ensures proactive response to corporate issues.- Manage and provide leadership to assigned staff in delivering effective corporate, governmental and internal communication.

Work closely with the Manager of Corporate Communications, Manager of Business Communications and Director of Strategic Communications in aligning communications activities to corporate direction.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications Studies or related discipline and/or;- Seven (7) years' experience in related communications fields that has included progressive experience in communications development.- Extensive experience in media relations and issues management.- Expertise in government relations and stakeholder engagement.- Knowledge of social media best practice.

A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Additional Information- Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters may be required on occasion.
