Your opportunity:


Reporting to the Assistant Director, Student Services, the incumbent will lead the overall co-op student experience and student success from admission to graduation with specific focus on student access to the co-op program, co-op curriculum, co-op programming, co-op community and program retention.

This will involve ensuring service delivery requirements and standards for the program are being met; developing and implementing recommendations based on student survey and focus groups; implementing plans and process improvements for program services to meet department goals; supervising the day to day work of Student Development Coordinators facilitating preparation courses and delivering first year experience as well as programming to students at all stages of the program; maintaining program curriculum and journey maps for overall co-op experience; managing the curricular review process; coordinating representation in the calendar, and ensuring timetable and enrollment is secured for co-op course delivery; collaborating with other Team Leads, such as Team Lead, Co-op Hiring & Workplace Learning and Industry and Partnership Development Lead to ensure a holistic approach to student success and a positive student experience in the program; consulting with coordinators on student cases and responding to escalated complaints or student situations; and serving as a back up for aspects of preparation course delivery and coaching appointments during peak periods.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Planning and implementing workflow for a group
  • Overseeing daytoday service delivery requirements and operational needs
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of new and/or revised business processes
  • Planning components of educational programs and/or course design
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Developing and implementing student retention plans that support strategic objectives
  • Assessing and determining benchmarks and metrics

Essential Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in a relevant area of study (i.e. education, adult training, human resources) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Certified Training and Development Practitioner is an asset
  • Minimum five years' experience working directly in support of individuals in the area of career development, preferably in a postsecondary environment
  • Experience managing relationships between multiple stakeholder groups and working in a data or target driven environment, building community and engagement, enhancing student experience and student success
  • Experience or knowledge of curriculum development, delivery and evaluation and services which supports and fosters equity, diversity, inclusion and access
  • Experience and knowledge of student experience/success programming, adult learning principles and career development theories to create and deliver learning using educational technologies
  • Experience supervising and leading staff, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in addition to the ability to make strong and confident presentations to a range of audiences
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and a focused attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize work and multitask
  • Good judgement, tact and discretion and able to resolve issues, problems and competing goals
  • Proven ability to foster an engaging team atmosphere built on collegiality and respect and motivate both individual and collective accountability to achieve department targets and plans
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and CRM systems
