Description
This is a permanent full-time day shift position. You must have flexibility to work on the afternoon shift and on the weekends for where support is needed.


Responsibilities:


  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (or the "Act") and the regulations; use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Mott requires to be used or worn; report to the Supervisor the absence or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the worker is aware and which may endanger themselves or another worker; and report to the Supervisor any contravention of the Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which the worker is aware
  • Ensure that all workers work in a manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations and ensures all workers use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Mott requires to be used or worn
  • Advise all workers of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health and safety of a worker of which the Lead Hand is aware, and where so prescribed, provide all workers with written instruction as to the measures and procedures to be taken for the protection of a worker; and to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the workers
  • Plan to complete departmental daily/monthly/annual goals
  • Lead in compliance with company's Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy and provide a working environment that is free from violence and harassment by actively promoting positive work environment
  • Follow and enforce company policies and meet standards
  • Provide proper training, coaching, constructive feedback (counseling) and progressive discipline
  • Communicate proactively within department with other shift leaders daily
  • Communicate collaboratively with other departments, Supervisors, Managers, and the engineering department
  • Share and acknowledge priorities and challenges while working collaboratively with other departments and shifts
  • Plan daily schedule and assign work for all team members and inform the Production Manager/Supervisor if additional employees are required
  • Ensure quality procedures and requirements are understood by all employees for each assignment and product, seek opportunities for improvement in both quality and/or quantity of team output
  • Coordinate material flow
  • Track purchased parts for specific orders
  • Order supplies and ensure critical inventory is maintained at a suitable level
  • Review orders and drawings to understand customer requirements
  • Ensure product is made to meet or exceed customer's expectation
  • Investigate issues with quality and in conjunction with the Production Manager/Supervisor implement corrective actions and further monitor the results
  • Resolve day to day process issues
  • Problem solve complex production issues in a collaborative and cooperative manner
  • Report NCRs using online reporting system
  • Monitor output continuously, then proactively strategize and adjust the plan to ensure production targets are met while keeping the Supervisor/Manager informed
  • Monitor quality meets the standard by conducting random quality audits
  • Monitor and verify product matches order/breakdown requirements
  • Ensure sufficient work in process (WIP) is available throughout the shift and in preparation for the following shift
  • Submit maintenance work orders
  • Orient and support new hires and transfers while monitoring the progress and providing appropriate feedback
  • Monitor employees closely and provide continuous and constructive feedback to ensure employees are aware of how they are meeting expectations
  • Work with and mentor employees including setting a good example
  • Oversee training of new employees and development of existing employees
  • Plan and ensure preventative maintenance on machinery
  • Report any near misses, incidents, accidents, property damage or equipment damage
  • Prepare and present performance reviews
  • Ensure compliance of team members to standards, goals, procedures, policies, and core values
  • Build professional and respectful relationships with others
  • Show appreciation to team and others for having done a good job or having performed in an exceptional manner
  • Resolve conflict in the early stage and support team members to build and maintain a good work environment
  • Cross train in other departments to better understand the flow and challenges outside of department
  • Be responsible for the above for all shifts, if applicable
  • Perform other duties as required

Skills & Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Minimum of the ability to satisfactorily meet all responsibilities as noted above
  • Proven ability to work effectively with people
  • Intermediate mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read blueprints and data sheets
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Established record of high productivity
